PCOS that is Polycystic ovarian syndrome is metabolic disorder and more severe form of PCOD. In this ovaries produced excess androgens, which makes eggs prone to becoming cysts. It leads to anovulation where ovaries stop releasing eggs. These sacs are filled with liquid and tend to enlarge.
*What happens in PCOD-
-In simple language PCOD is a condition in which hormones go crazy.
-There are two sex hormones in the female body which are estrogen and progesterone. The ovary produces estrogen and tiny bit of male sex hormone i.e Testosteron and androgens.
-This balance regulates the development of eggs and their release every month.
-When this balance goes off, say a little more androgens the Ovaries will stop ovulating.
-With the increase of androgens, the ovary start producing immature eggs. These eggs are useless and form cysts around the ovaries. These are nothing but poly i.e multi cysts.
